Copyright Warning

Although it is now possible for groups registered with the World Martial Arts Council to have their training syllabus, grades, certificates and non-academic courses validated, it must be fully understood that such validation is from the World Martial Arts Council and not a college or university. Whilst the logo of the World Martial Arts Council may be displayed on the websites and business stationery of registered individuals and groups, the use of any college or university logo by any individual or group other than the World Martial Arts Council is a breach of copyright law, and any inference or suggestion that a college or university is connected in any way with other martial arts associations, whether registered or not with the World Martial Arts Council, is illegal. If any reference is made by registered groups to the provision of academic courses or accredited qualifications, it must be clearly stated these are provided by the college or university concerned in conjunction with the World Martial Arts Council, and not with its affiliates that have no legal or academic status with any college or university. Colleges and universities will not recognize registered individuals or groups as separate entities, and any suggestion to the contrary is punishable by law. Colleges, universities, and the World Martial Arts Council will take any legal action necessary to rectify such deception.

Teaching, Assessing, and Coaching Courses

The introduction of academic martial arts teaching, assessing, and coaching courses is an innovative concept that is long overdue and will dispel the dangerous myth that obtaining a black belt, or its equivalent, gives a person the automatic ability and authority to teach. Martial arts tuition is largely unregulated, and for many years the World Martial Arts Council has sought to form a working relationship with academic partners in order to improve the delivery of martial arts education. Such partnerships have now been formed between colleges, universities, and the World Martial Arts Council, in order to deliver martial arts coaching awards for the global martial arts community

Application and Induction Process

The World Martial Arts Council conducts an induction process to ensure applicants from martial art backgrounds are suitable, and issues an Induction Certificate on completion. This confirms the World Martial Arts Council considers the applicant able to successfully complete academic programmes of intended study, and assures any university or college that claimed martial art qualifications and experience have been verified.
